How a Butler Roof Curb Stays Leak-Free
It floats with the roof. A standing seam roof expands and contracts with temperature. The curb is clamped to support channels — not bolted rigidly to the structure — and its opening sits at least 6 inches back from the roof-clip centerlines, so the roof can still move without tearing the seal.
The high side sheds water. An upslope diverter plate slopes water around the curb instead of letting it pond against the uphill wall — the spot where a leak would otherwise start.
The flanges seal into the panel. The curb ties into the roof with internal flanges, butyl tape, and continuous sealant so the connection is watertight and most fasteners stay hidden inside the assembly.
